WrestlingJesus recently posted a rant that is both hilarious and unfortunately the truth. The show really isn't that entertaining anymore and it is causing people to turn the channel. On every wrestling site in existence there is that same article every Tuesday, "WWE Viewership Declines". Wrestling fans will watch the WWE because they are used to it and don't view the other companies as a viable option. There was a time when TNA was putting on good shows but those days are long gone. The rest of companies you have to seek out to view their shows and most of the time all of the top performers in those companies wind up working for the WWE once they become popular.
The WWE has had pretty much every one of it's performers say "New Era" over and over again. It is just said randomly in the middle of promos. What exactly is the "New Era"? Shane McMahon cutting boring promos with Stephanie McMahon? We all know they aren't going to get along that much longer and their will be some kind of feud. Are they banking on the WWE Universe being shocked when Triple H makes his inevitable return to most likely feud with Shane McMahon? Some people are claiming that this AJ Styles/ Roman Reigns feud is incredible, I don't understand how anyone thinks that. I'm not all that interested in a conflicted AJ Styles, trying to decide whether he should do things the right way or allow Gallows and Anderson to help him defeat Roman Reigns. It just isn't that interesting to me and Gallows and Anderson have essentially become jobbers already. They are getting pinned by the Usos and having awkward promos with AJ Styles. I'm already tired of this feud and on top of that I cannot envision a scenario where AJ Styles leaves Extreme Rules as WWE Champion.
What happened to just having a match? AJ Styles and Roman Reigns are much better wrestlers than talkers, why did they make this storyline so convoluted? It should just be AJ Styles really wants the WWE Championship so that he can prove that he belongs. Instead, we have this messy storyline that just screams some kind of screwjob finish at Extreme Rules, rather than just putting on a good wrestling match. The people that hate Roman Reigns will get over it if he wins at Extreme Rules. There doesn't need to be all these distractions going on that most certainly will wind up taking away from the match. If destroying potted plants named Mitch and contemplating AJ Styles' deep thoughts is the "New Era" then we are in for some awful Monday Night Raws for the foreseeable future.
