Cody Rhodes is yet another example of wasted talent in the WWE. In case you have been under a rock for the past few days, Rhodes asked and was granted his release from the WWE. His reason for wanting to leave the company? Awful writing and being completely wasted. The Stardust gimmick was destined to fail and the higher-ups at the WWE didn't want him to go back to the Cody Rhodes character. Before Stardust, Rhodes actually had some excellent moments in the WWE. I thought the mask he wore to protect his face was hilarious and his whole run as a heel was fantastic. However, like most WWE talents, the WWE completely botched the entire thing and now Cody Rhodes is no longer with the company.
Add Cody Rhodes to the never-ending list of wasted talent in the WWE. Damien Sandow was recently released to apparently make space for the new Superstars coming up from NXT. Wade Barrett asked for his release for much of the same reasons Rhodes' wanted out. Wade Barrett had the look and all the talent in the world, yet the WWE couldn't figure out what to do with him. That is why I find it difficult to get excited about this so called "New Era". These NXT superstars may never get the chance the WWE is promising them. After their loss last night at Extreme Rules, cant you already see the Vaudevillians fading into obscurity? Maybe that wont be the case this time around. Maybe Apollo Crews will actually get a shot, even though he isn't as tall as the prototypical WWE Superstar. It could just be cynicism, but I always believe the WWE will find a way to screw things up. The entire crowd hates Roman Reigns, and none of that is Reigns' fault. The WWE just incorrectly booked him, like they have so many others. If this "New Era" can eliminate that problem, that would be fantabulous.
