Just last year, Bray Wyatt was a part of a major storyline heading into Wrestlemania. He was going up against The Undertaker and when someone brings up Wrestlemania, it is only a matter of time till someone brings up the Undertaker. So how did Bray Wyatt go from being in one of the main-events in Wrestlemania to almost an after-thought? Terrible booking is the answer. Something the WWE has made a habit of doing for years now.
There are countless examples of the WWE not knowing what to do with a superstar. Recently, there was the inexplicable booking of Cesaro, where the WWE aligned Paul Heyman with him, only to abandon the plan without giving it a true chance. Dolph Ziggler has been stuck in the
same place for years now and will most likely leave the WWE in a couple years. What will his legacy be? He was a terrific "seller", in the sense that he could make the person the WWE was pushing look excellent in the ring. Even though Dolph Ziggler is and has been the most talented wrestler on the roster since he arrived, he will never get the main-event push and chance he deserves.
The most head-scratching case of bad WWE booking is Bray Wyatt though. The Wyatt family were awesome when they arrived and Bray Wyatt cut these ominous promos that intrigued the WWE universe. The WWE had the audience's attention and did absolutely nothing with it. Why in the world is the Wyatt family losing to the Big Show, Ryback and Kane? What purpose does that serve? How many times do we have to sit through a Bray Wyatt promo that makes no sense, only for it to lead to absolutely nothing?
Bray Wyatt is still a great wrestler and still maintains the ability to cut an excellent promo. However, the WWE continually writes these idiotic promos for him to essentially say nothing and look at the camera as if begging for the WWE Universe to care again. The fact that Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt family are stuck is of no fault of any wrestler. The blame lies solely on WWE creative and there really is no excuse for it. It is not like Bray Wyatt is damaged beyond repair, either. The Wyatt family and Bray are salvageable, but the WWE doesn't seem interested in making them entertaining again. As of now, Bray Wyatt is reduced to boring promos and no match heading into Wrestlemania. I'm sure the Wyatt family will be shoe-horned into some meaningless match at the biggest show of the year and that is just downright sad. Another day, another young superstar the WWE has failed to develop.
