The San Jose Sharks got out to an early lead and it looked like it would be an easy victory. However, in typical L.A. Kings fashion, they battled back and tied the game. Gagging a lead away is also something the Sharks do on the regular so I figured that this game would end in another heartbreaking loss. That was not the case on this night, as the Sharks outplayed the Kings in the third period and advanced to round two of the NHL playoffs.
The L.A. Kings have always been a thorn in the Sharks' side. They suffered an epic collapse, being up 3-0 in the series to the Kings, only to lose the next four games and be eliminated from the playoffs. The Sharks are always an after-thought when it comes to the playoffs. They seem to always fail when it matters. This year seems to be different. They eliminated the Kings, a very talented team with a great coach. This was not some creampuff opponent they got in the first round, this was a championship caliber team they beat. They beat the Kings in L.A. every game this series. Have the Sharks finally arrived? Time will tell. However, this was a massive victory for the franchise and something that could spring-board the Sharks to the Cup run they have been seeking for years.
