Like most, I was pissed off when Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble last year. It was mainly because of the lame elimination of Daniel Bryan and having the show end with the Big Show and Kane lumbering around the ring. It seems like the WWE has been stuck for a couple years and have no idea what to do with some of their young talent. Honestly, there is no reason to dislike Roman Reigns. The only thing I can think of is that people don't want him to be the next John Cena.
Again, like most, I absolutely hated John Cena up until a couple years ago. I began to realize that he was one of the only reliable superstars the WWE had. Even if the audience was booing Cena out of the building, he was still getting a reaction. There are so many "superstars" on the WWE roster that get no reaction whatsoever. The striking thing is that it is not the talents fault, it is the product itself. 3 out of 4 Monday Night Raw's completely suck. Every Raw opens with a promo that should be 4 minutes but is stretched out to 14 minutes to fill time. The wrestlers are no longer allowed to be themselves and are fed corny lines from those that write the show. I'm sure these people are very talented, but holy smokes some of the dialogue on Raw is just horrible. The ultimate example of horrible writing dooming a wrestler is Roman Reigns.
If you have sat through a Roman Reigns promo and not had the urge to whip the television remote at the television you are the strongest person on this planet and should fight crime. It is just awful and for the most part it is not Reigns' fault. The man can't be himself and is out there trying to do stand up comedy written by an 8 year old for 5 year olds. It just didn't work and finally the WWE seemed to realize that. When Roman Reigns knocked out Vince McMahon it changed everything. It finally gave the people that hate watch the product something to cheer about. It was the classic fantasy of punching your boss in the face because you are fed up with their BS. It is a shame that the WWE took a year of making Roman Reigns intolerable before they came up with a storyline that they have used countless times in the past. There is no questioning that Reigns should be the face of the WWE, yet it certainly is questionable why it took so long for the WWE to make it work. Here is to hoping they don't royally screw it up again.
