The Celtics had a terrific first quarter, scoring 37 points. The offense came back to earth throughout the game however and it wound up being a very close game. The Hawks came storming back and cut a 20 point lead down to 1 point. The fourth quarter was intense, with Isaiah Thomas putting on a show to lead the Celtics to victory. Isaiah Thomas had 42 points on the night and played the game of his life. It is the first playoff win under Brad Stevens and one that was desperately needed for the Celtics franchise.
Marcus Smart remains a controversial player. He plays hard but he also flops like it is nobodies business. I cannot stand him as a player, to be honest. Many will argue that the good outweighs the bad and that he has the potential to be a big-time player. I don't see it. I see a player that plays hard and flops every single chance he gets. The refs have already caught on to the flopping and he is not getting any calls anymore. Hopefully, he grows out of this but it is doubtful. He flopped in college and flops an absolutely absurd amount in the NBA. He can barely shoot the ball and makes a lot of dumb plays as well. I really hope the Celtics trade him this offseason if he has any real trade value.
The Celtics needed this win to make it a legitimate series and they got it 111-103. Instead of going down 0-3, the series is now 2-1 in favor of the Hawks. The Celtics need to win Sunday or the series is most likely over. The season would have definitely been over if they lost tonight. Is it possible for the Celtics to win this series?
