I'm not sure how many more examples I need to convince myself the Bruins just aren't a good team. Scratch that, I've come to that conclusion. The Boston Bruins are not even close to a championship contender this year, in fact they are not close to being relevant. Sure, they have the chance to make the playoffs and are in them if the season ended today. However, if you objectively look at them, they simply aren't good enough.
Tonight was a perfect example of why you should not get your hopes up for the Bruins this year. The Bruins held a 3-1 lead over the lifeless Toronto Maple Leafs in the third period and let it slip away. They simply cannot close out games. In overtime, Krecji got a holding penalty called against him and it led to the game-winning power-play goal for Toronto. It is absolutely incredible to me that the Bruins cannot hold leads and cannot win at home. Why are the Bruins awful at home? It is supposed to be an advantage for the Bruins to play at the TD Garden in front of a raucous Boston crowd. The trade deadline is rapidly approaching and I think it is time the Bruins become sellers and speed up the rebuilding process. The make-up of this team is flawed. They rely to much on an aging Zdeno Chara and the rest of their young defensemen are severely underperforming. Time to sell. The ball is in your court, Mr. Sweeney.
