This is becoming a bit of a trend for ESPN. People with actual opinions are leaving the network on the regular now. Bill Simmons, Colin Cowherd and now Skip Bayless. Yesterday, it was reported that Mike Tirico was leaving the company as well. There were rumors on sites like Deadspin that Skip and Stephen A. Smith did not get along behind the scenes and now that appears to be true.
Say what you want about Skip Bayless, this a huge loss for ESPN. Skip is one of the last guys on the network that stirs the pot. He is controversial, but in a good way. He doesn't say mind-numbing things like Stephen A. Smith hinting that maybe it was partly Janay Rice's fault that she got punched in the face. Skip Bayless just says things people don't agree with, he rarely offends anybody. If the does wind up at Fox Sports, that is another huge get for the struggling network. If you want bland, opinion-less, vanilla sports coverage, ESPN is your choice. If you want to hear opinions, looks like Fox Sports may be the place to go.
