Super Bowl 50 is this Sunday and fans of the Patriots are pissed off mainly because they are not there. That is understandable, it was almost a given that the Patriots were going to defeat the Broncos in the AFC Championship. However, that didn't happen due to an utter meltdown by the Pats offensive line. Being upset your team is not there makes sense, but being angry that Tom Brady is going to show up to be honored at the Super Bowl is downright obnoxious.
Deflategate is the most overblown story of all time. I say is instead of was because it is still going on, the NFL's appeal of Judge Berman's decision to void Brady's suspension will be heard in the next few months. However, whatever bitterness Brady and his fans feel towards NFL commissioner Roger Gooddell and the NFL in general should not prevent Brady from attending a ceremony honoring past Super Bowl MVPs. The NFL is honoring the best of the best in the biggest game in all of sports. The idea that Brady shouldn't go as a previous MVP is laughable.
All week Patriots fans have been phoning into Boston radio programs voicing their want of Tom Brady to skip the event. Some people seem incapable of separating deflategate from the game of football itself. Tom Brady has earned the right to be honored at the Super Bowl and it would be a bad look if he didn't attend. Brady is not going to go because of deflategate? Please. I get the outrage about deflategate and the moronic way the NFL handled it, but it shouldn't prevent Brady from going to Super Bowl 50. It would bring even more attention to deflategate if he skipped out on the ceremony, Brady going makes him look like the bigger man. Unfortunately, some of Patriots media and fans don't see it that way. The only way they would be satisfied is if Tom Brady held up the double-bird while being honored at the ceremony.
