Leading up to this show, many felt like it would be better than this year's Wrestlemania. NXT Takeover Dallas had a lot of hype and for the most part it lived up to it.
First Match: American Alpha vs The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championship.
This was a great back and forth match. Shockingly, American Alpha got the win and became the new Tag Team Champs! I didn't see that one coming.
Second Match: Austin Airies vs Baron Corbin
This was a slow match but decent nonetheless. Austin Airies got the win via a roll-up.
Now we get to the match of the night in my opinion. Sami Zayn vs Shinsuke Nakamura. This match was just epic.
The crowd was on the edge of their seat the entire match. There was not a quite moment throughout the whole bout.
The crowd even chanted "fight forever" during this match. I've never heard that chant before.
There were so many false-finishes in this match. Seriously, there wasn't a single dull moment at all.
Unfortunately, the match had to end sometime and it ended with Nakamura getting the win.
After the match, Sami Zayn got a standing ovation. This was most likely his final match in NXT as he is heading to the main roster on the WWE.
Asuka vs Bayley for the NXT Women's Championship was next up. Once again, this was another great match. I had no clue who would win this match and was really looking forward to it.
Asuka wound up getting the victory and becoming the new NXT Women's Championship. The finish was perfect because Bayley didn't tap out, she passed out. Bayley is extremely popular so the finish to the match made sense.
Right before the main-event Bobby Roode showed up. The crowd went bonkers.
Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor for the NXT Championship closed the show. Within the first few seconds of the match, Joe was busted wide open.
They kept having to stop the match so that the doctors could try to get the cut to stop bleeding all over the place. Joe and the crowd were pissed off and it led to a very loud "Fuck PG!" chant. One of the funnier moments of the night.
This match was also back and forth and there were a few moments I thought it was over.
In the end, this match kind of ended with a whimper. Finn Balor spring-boarded of the turnbuckle and into a modified roll-up. I thought for sure Joe would kick out but he didn't. Essentially, Balor escaped with the win. All in all, this was a great show. Wrestlemania 32 has a lot to live up to on Sunday night.
