Mike Brown, owner of the Bengals, clearly doesn't care about post season success. He is just happy with the revenue he is generating just by being a decent team and making the playoffs every year. In any other sport, in any other market, Marvin Lewis would be fired. It has become insultingly clear that he just can't win the big game. He is a perfectly competent NFL head coach, who just folds in the biggest moments and that sounds perfect to Mike Brown.
The Bengals meltdown Saturday night was not unexpected to anyone that has watched this team in the playoffs before. They quite simply are never prepared for the big moment, they always lose all composure. The only storyline that is different this year from most years is that this time it wasn't the quarterback's fault they lose the game. AJ McCarron played well given his experience and the weather throughout the game. Yet, the Bengals still found a way to choke the game away. Jeremy Hill fumbles the ball and then Burfict and Pacman Jones lose their minds. It was an embarrassing way to lose a football game. It is borderline impossible to choke away a football game any worse than giving the Steelers 30 yards in flags and setting them up to hit the game winning field goal. Everyone in Cincinnati is embarrassed besides Marvin Lewis and Mike Brown.
