Look, we all knew this was coming. The Boston Bruins have been choke artists for a few years now and now it might finally be time for the organization to do something about it. Claude Julien is a terrific coach and will find a new job immediately. His time has come to an end here in Boston. If he comes back next year, I just may lose my mind.
On Thursday, the Bruins showed some balls for maybe the third time this season with a big win against the Detroit Red Wings. It is only fitting that they showed up completely lifeless today and made an overwhelming amount of mistakes. It has been the story all year, their defense just sucks. However, today was even more of a disaster because Tuukka Rask was unable to play due to an illness. It was a fitting way to end the season for Rask, seeing as he hasn't shown up too much this year either.
In the first period there was a glimmer of hope even though the Bruins were being wildly outplayed by the Senators. The Bruins took the lead and were able to endure an onslaught of shots by Ottawa. However, in the second period everything went to hell and the Bruins once again got their ass kicked on home ice. This team was horrendous at home all year and choked every single time something was on the line. I thought the Winter Classic would be the low-point of the Bruins season, I was completely wrong. Two epic collapses in a row and the Bruins are yet again out of the playoffs. The Detroit Red Wings lost today, which makes the Bruins embarrassing loss even more unforgivable. The only hope for the Bruins is that the Flyers only get a point in their next two games. That is highly unlikely.
This offseason is extremely important for the Bruins. If they don't make some major changes and bring in some quality defensemen, next year is going to suck as much as this one.
