Call me crazy, but I think this is finally the year for the St. Louis Blues. It has to be. If it is not, Ken Hitchcock is gone and the Blues will have gotten spanked in the first round yet again. Up until this point, the Blues have pretty much been the Chicago Cubs of the NHL. They are lovable losers and year after year they fail in the playoffs. The Blues have always had the talent, Tarasenko is an elite player in the NHL and David Backes is returning from an injury that caused him to miss the final three games of the season. There should be no excuses this year, well besides on gigantic one.
They drew the worst possible first round match-up imaginable, the defending Stanley Cup champions. The Chicago Blackhawks are the model franchise in the NHL and have quite possibly the two best players in the league in Kane and Toews. However, anything can happen in the NHL and I believe this is finally the year the Blues break through. What better way to say that you have arrived than to knock off the defending champs? What better way to say this is our year then to send Kane and Toews home? This is it, St. Louis. This is your destiny.
Having said that they will probably lose in 6 games but damn it, I'm not backing down. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team Chicago has. Screw em'! This is your time, St. Louis! Now go out there and take it.
