Long time MMA journalist Ariel Helwani broke the news that Brock Lesnar is returning to the UFC at UFC 200. He broke the news before the UFC aired a promo, because you know, he is a journalist and was you know, doing his job.
Turns out, that is a no-no. Apparently, getting scoops and reporting them is taboo in Dana White's world. Maybe it wasn't Dana White, maybe it was some other pompous jackass that can't handle not being in control of everything that decided that removing Ariel Helwani from the arena was the proper thing to do. Whether it was Dana, some other dink, or a collection of dinks, they apparently are unaware that it is 2016 and word spreads. You can't be a dick anymore without being called out on it.
The UFC is in the process of becoming a mainstream sport, it is bullshit like this that will forever hold them back. This is just pathetic. Ariel Helwani is pretty much the only place I get my MMA news. I would still consider myself a casual fan, but I understand that the sport is on the rise. To ban someone for life because they broke a story as a journalist is about as out of date as it can get. Here is hoping that Dana White wasn't behind this, because if he was, I really hope those rumors that the UFC is up for sale are indeed true.
