There are certain films that a remake is acceptable. You know, films that weren't made in this generation or even if someone wants to add their own little twist on a movie made 15 years ago. Fine, I can live with that. There are also films that should never be remade because they are perfect just the way that they are. Casablanca, for example, does not need to be remade with Kristen Stewart and Zac Efron. There is an entire separate category of films that also don't need to be remade because they weren't even that good to begin with. Jumanji falls into that category, in my opinion.
It is the dumbest movie to remake because if you love it, you don't wan't it to be touched. If you feel like it was a pretty good flick like most of the world, you are scratching your head as to why bother. The answer obviously is money, but didn't they already try this with Land of the Lost? The Jumanji remake will star Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson and (reportedly) comedian Kevin Hart. Sounds like a blast and I'm sure it will be entertaining, but what a weird film to remake. To me, it is akin to remaking Night at the Museum in 10 years. Like, is it really necessary? I guess it is nowadays. Jumanji is a name and Hollywood is banking on that to motivate people to going to the theaters. We shall see if it works, I'm just wondering if they are going to remake Flubber next.
